Mission:  Seeking to put God’s love in action, Habitat brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness from the earth.  Founded in 1976, HFHI works in partnership with people in need to build simple, decent healthy houses.   Partner families purchase houses with no interest mortgages and at no profit to Habitat.

Jackson County Habitat for Humanity was organized in 1988 and is an independent, non-profit organization affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International.  The local affiliate is responsible for its own fundraising, publicity, volunteer recruitment and operation.  Habitat obtains building sites either through purchase or donations.

Volunteers raise the funds and construct the homes. More homes are built by recycling homeowners’ mortgage payments.

Additional money, materials and services are donated by individuals, religious organizations, civic clubs, businesses and foundations.  Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner partner families.

In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.

Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans.  The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
